How To Make Money Online And Travel With Affiliate Marketing

Question: How to make money online and travel?

First of all, this is a loaded question but I will divide it into a short and a long answer.

Short Answer:

Do Affiliate Marketing for other people’s digital products. It’s less work in the long-run (you create pages online that link together and can send people to the sales page), you don’t have anyone to report to (no deadlines and no boss), and you can spend a couple of hours to add more value to your strategies/test best selling techniques. 

So the long answer also sheds light on several other popular questions asked. Questions such as “What Do I Promote?”, “How Do I Promote it?”, and “How Do I Get Traffic?” Let’s get to it!

Long Answer:

Unless you work for a research position or an ambassador for a company or even a YouTuber, you won’t be traveling often. The one way I am able to make money while traveling is through online affiliate marketing. If you’re doing online affiliate  marketing yourself, you’ll need to wear several hats. You’ll need to learn what to promote, how to promote it, and getting people to buy what you’re promoting.

What Do I Promote?

The ‘easiest products’ are digital products. Digital products do not require inventory and they have unlimited quantities. Unlike having a Shopify store, where you sell physical products, you don’t need to check to track shipments either! The best thing to promote is a product you as a marketer believes in. Something that you would purchase and use yourself! 

The top 3 best selling categories are the evergreen products

Evergreen products are products that will always have a future due to their never ending demand, people are willing to spend on the right product.  Examples such as ‘Health’, ‘Wealth’, and ‘Relationships’. 

These three categories will forever exist because of the human pain points they apply to. People will always want to know how to make money, just as people will always want to learn to be healthy or lose weight. People who have had their hearts broken surely would want to learn how to cope and heal or maybe even want to learn how to move on to look for someone who is truly special for them.

These categories in themselves are HUGE and can be divided into different niches. Such as the ‘Making Money’ category can be branched out to ‘Selling Your Own eBook’, ‘Selling Your Graphics Design Services’, or ‘E-Commerce’ and many, many more. 

Notice how specific these branches are compared to ‘Making Money’. There are different ways to make money, so you’ll have to decide which niche you’re passionate about, or have extensive knowledge of so that you can sell the product very well.

How do I market the product I’ve chosen?

The strategy I share is a long term strategy so trying to make a quick buck isn’t on the criteria. There may be some people that will buy early, but for the majority of your audience, they won’t until further down the road.

You’ll need to build your own ecosystem (a website as well as an email system setup) where your audience can gather value and understand what your product can do to help them. The questions your ecosystem should answer are:

What can this do for me?

How fast can I see results?

How much does it cost?

How do I get traffic for sales?

In order for you to sell, you’ll need people seeing your content. These people are essentially what we call “traffic” in the marketing world. Getting traffic is probably the most concerning and daunting part of online marketing. There’s paid traffic and free traffic. 

Some examples of paid traffic sources are:

‘Banner and Display Networks’ where you find suitable website you’d like to promote your product or service. Eg. Lose weight with Keto on someone’s weight loss website. You’ll have to send the owner an email that you’d like to work with them and negotiate a price. Essentially You’ll provide the appropriate banner with a captivating design.

‘Influencer Network’ is where you can find the right influencers on a platform to advertise your products and services. Of course if your niche is the Keto Diet, you’ll want to find an influencer who practices the same industry. Then you negotiate a price and set up the ads with them. You can also find different angles for marketing as well such as marketing Keto Diet Recipes with influencer chefs! 

‘Native Ad Networks’ are similar to banner and display ads, where as instead of promoting a banner, you’re promoting a blog or a very well built sales page. How ‘native ad networks’ work is that ad agencies will place your ad onto a news outlet website feed
‘Pay Per Click Networks’ is where you put your ad onto Google Adwords, Bing, Facebook, or YouTube, and for each person’s click, you’ll be charged. There are many strategies and ways to do PPC ads and full length courses as well as books can b e written about them. If you’re already familiar with PPC ads and have done well in the past, excellent, you should continue that. Be sure to familiarize yourself with the new rules and regulations with PPC ads because lately Privacy and Security have been huge issues for these large companies and many things have been constantly changed the past several years.

Now Let’s get to the Free Traffic Sources…

You can probably guess what the free traffic sources are because they’re the most popular sites and apps everyone uses. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Linked In, Pinterest are all fantastic sources of free traffic. Because ‘Social Media’ is free, they do have their own caveats. Social Media will be a grind for people who don’t use them regularly. Each platform also have their own rules and regulations you should follow. The KEY to be successful with Social media platforms is the amount of good content you put out.

For TikTok, a very popular platform requires you to create at least 3 posts a day to build a following. It may seem a lot at first but posting 3 very short videos on TikTok will help splendidly. For YouTube, it’s best to post at least one 5-minute video everyday. For Facebook, in order for you to build traffic, you’ll need to post once in at least 50 different but similar niche groups. Most importantly, make sure your posts are congruent in terms of niche. It’s very important to stick with one niche.

Now you’ve learned how to earn money online. The traveling part is all up to you. I would suggest having your Ecosystem all up and running for you before you book multiple one way tickets to different countries! Make sure you’ve already established the right income for yourself and be able to add more value to it along the way.

Remember, all this can be done on your laptop with a source of internet!
